Being small is earning North Okanagan communities some extra funding.
The provincial government just announced the latest instalment of the Strategic Community Investment Fund (SCIF), with Armstrong, Enderby, Spallumcheen and the Regional District of North Okanagan among the approximately 144 communities and districts that will benefit from it.

A change to prior legislation gives catering companies and existing licensed establishments greater flexibility in serving their clientele.
Catering companies can now obtain a liquor license to better meet the food, beverage and entertainment needs of those employing them. At the same time, already licensed facilities— restaurants, hotels and conference centres—are now able to serve liquor at catered events held at offsite locations. Outdoor weddings, for example, can now have full liquor service from a favourite restaurant, or an out-of-town convention can hire a catering company to provide both food and liquor to attending delegates.

Armstrong and Enderby arts councils, as well as numerous other organizations, have increased funding to which they can apply for this year.
B.C.’s Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development announced that it’s investing $1.5 million in two new arts programs, B.C. Creative Spaces and B.C. Creative Communities, to help organizations continue to provide arts experiences in communities.
